Heartlink Community Hub

What is the Hub?

The Heartlink Community Hub is a regular monthly event incorporating a range of activities from advice on heart health, welfare advice, quizzes, bingo, basic IT familiarisation and gentle exercise. In particular, it allows people to meet up, have a chat and exchange experiences.

On average we have approximately 30 members attending, and all enjoy a chat tea/coffee and cake. The Hub is open on the 3rd Thursday of every month from 2pm to 4pm. It is held at Greenford Park Community Hall at 18 Queens Ave, UB6 9BX, situated near to Greenford centre and Southall. Queens Ave is very close to Greenford Road, the Golf Links Estate and Dormers Wells and is on major bus routes 282, 92 and E5.

There is free parking on the street outside the Hall.

The Hub was set up in October 2022 in response to an extensive consultation exercise with Heartlink members, who were asked what they would like us to provide for them.

  • As background, hubs can bring people together and help them form new relationships and support networks. They do this by enabling and hosting community led activity.
  • They can provide early intervention services, helping people to solve problems before they escalate into bigger problems, particularly with loneliness, anxiety and isolation.
  • They can offer a safe place where people can come in for a coffee or to meet others in a similar position.
  • Community hubs can provide an all-round approach to helping people with their problems.

Heartlink Wednesday Walkers

Just come and join in - every Wednesday 10am

The Heartlink Wednesday Walkers is a friendly group of like-minded people who meet weekly to support healthy hearts through regular walking. Some of our members are heart patients, but we welcome walkers of all abilities.

We meet every Wednesday at 10am at Greenford Hall and enjoy walks through parks and places of interest in the London Borough of Ealing and beyond. Thanks to free bus travel, we’re also able to explore further afield.

GREENFORD HALL is on Ruislip Rd, Greenford, UB6 9QN – close to the main Greenford Shopping  Centre & bus routes.

Members often comment on how walking with the group has improved their breathing and increased the distance they can comfortably walk without becoming too tired. Walking together helps everyone feel safe and confident, allowing us to enjoy a variety of routes including parks, woodland paths, canals, and historic sites such as Osterley House, Chiswick House, Gunnersbury Park, and Ruislip Lido.

A much-loved part of every walk is the coffee or tea break at the end, giving everyone the chance to relax, chat, and socialise in a welcoming environment. We always make sure toilet facilities are available.

Our walkers range in age from the mid-50s to over 90, proving there really is something for everyone. If you enjoy good company, gentle exercise, and discovering new places, Wednesday Walkers would love to welcome you. ‎

If you are interested and want to talk to one of us, phone us on 0300 102 4575

All money raised will support Heartlink’s efforts to help local heart patients and promote heart health awareness in our community.

Walking Towards a Healthier Heart – More about Our Walkers Group

Over the last year, Heartlink members have been sharing our new leaflet to inspire others to improve their fitness through walking – and our numbers have grown. Now that spring is here, it’s the perfect season to get outside, enjoy some fresh air, and join our welcoming Wednesday Walkers Group.

We meet every Wednesday at 10am outside Greenford Hall, next to Greenford Shopping Centre. Our walks are leisurely, lasting around two hours as we explore nearby parks and scenic paths. Afterwards, we unwind with tea and friendly conversation. Most members use their Freedom Passes for the journey home and stay in touch via WhatsApp to plan future walks.

If you’d like to receive some leaflets to share with friends, community groups, or local GP surgeries, just let us know—we’d be happy to send them your way.
